How to Un-Muddle the Middle and Stick the Landing
Everyone says your first line will make or break your chances at getting published. But it’s more complicated than that! If you can’t keep an editor–your first professional reader–interested in the messy middle, how will readers stick with you?
Too often, writers workshop those first three to five chapters over and over again and neglect the messy middlenevermind sticking the landing. Without skillful foreshadowing, strong character development, and a plot that makes sense, why will your reader stay with you till the end?
Join veteran editor and former publisher Stacy Whitman to discuss all the ways to keep your reader hooked until the last page.

The Business of Publishing: What Writers Need to Know
Writing books is an art—but it’s also a business. How can writers balance their art against the very real economic demands of that business? Join publishing veteran Stacy Whitman to discuss the choice between self-publishing and traditional publishing, whether you need an agent, how to navigate the submissions process and the editorial process, and what your vs. your publisher’s responsibilities are before and after the book is published.
